Dave Drinon
Dave grew up in a family that appreciated and participated in the visual arts.  His mother found time to paint while raising eight children and continued painting until passing away just shy of her 90th birthday.

Dave’s older brother Bob was an accomplished artist with a studio in the “old Port’ section of Portland Maine throughout the 70’s and 80’s.

“My mother and father worked hard to raise eight children with little money.  I now appreciate how remarkable it was to be surrounded by such a love of the arts and a drive to create in the midst of a relentless struggle to get by.”

Dave painted regularly in his youth but got away from it as a young adult.

“You get focused on building a career, on being a husband and a father, telling yourself that someday you’ll get back to it.”

“Finally, 5 years ago I decided that someday was here so I enrolled in a painting course at NECC.”

Dave continues to take courses and workshops at various local institutions, such as the Essex Arts Center and Montserrat College of Arts.  “I try to attend as many demonstration, lectures, and exhibits in Boston and the north shore as I can.”

Dave is closing in on 30 years in a career in financial planning.  He is Senior Vice President of Boston Partners Financial Group in Andover, MA.  He looks forward to a time when he can become a full time painter and student of the arts.

“When I am in my studio, time passes without notice.  It is not always about trying to do a painting, but to simply experiment with color or technique on an open canvas.  I feel at my best when I just let it flow, without expectations.”

“I am excited and looking forward to continued growth during this phase of my life.  Someday is finally here!”
