ARTS INSTITUTE GROUP of the Merrimack Valley, Inc.
A Fine Connection to the ARTS!
Letter from Our Scholarship Chairperson (cont'd...)
...On another positive note; the AIG donated $250.00 to Nevins Memorial Library to thank them for the use of the hall for our art show. The Director of Nevins Library, Krista McLeod, (my boss) was thrilled with the donation and asked me to choose books that were of interest to artists. I tried to choose something for everyone while also strengthening the collection in areas that we were a little weak in. The titles I chose are:
Strokes of Genius 2-The Best of Drawing Light & Shadow by Rachel Rubin Wolf
Painting Amazing Watercolors from Photographs by Henry Dixon
Landscape Painting: Essential Concept
Figure it out- Christopher Har
Portrait Painting Atlier by Suzanne Brooker
Daring Color by Alan Abbott
Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life
The Big Book of Realistic Drawing Secrets by Craig Park
Painting Realistic Wildlife in acrylic by William Silvers
The Art of Pastel Painting by Alan Flattman
Vibrant Children's Portraits by Victoria Lisi
Paint Landscapes in Acrylic by Lee Hammond
Down by the Sea with Brush and Pens by Claudia Nice
Each book has a nameplate that reads "A gift from the Arts Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley, Inc. March 2010"
You may check out these books at Nevins Library, Methuen or request them online at www.nevinslibrary.org. I just processed them yesterday for circulation and already a few of them have been checked out by Nevins Library patrons. Some were requested in other communities but there are still some left as well as our collection of art books and dvds that we have purchased through the years.
The library is very appreciative of this donation as it benefits our community. You may also donate books that we feel would be a great addition to our library by going to amazon.com and clicking on our wish list. It is a great way to give back to the community or to remember someone special. We will put a name plate in the book(s) you donate upon request.
So thank you once again Jim and Marcia for a superb job, and to my friends and colleagues for your generosity to the scholarship recipients and to the Nevins Memorial Library.
