Laureen M. Luszcz is a pastel artist who started out in the arts as just enjoying putting color on a piece of paper.  Using whatever she had as a child, she would draw and color and experiment with different mediums.  Laureen has studied under Linda Obremski of Bedford, NH for three years.  She is presently studying under Mary Buergin, a native of Buffalo, NY who received her degree in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College.

Since the first day of being introduced to pastels, Laureen has been going full force in producing very colorful and peaceful nature scenes.  It has been only four years in the making of pastels, however, given the love of art, Laureen feels right at home and directly connected to what she is working on.

When Laureen is painting, she feels like part of her is being transformed into the picture.  There are no boundaries just color and freedom.  Her favorite scenes are with water, beaches and nature.

Laureen has won several awards in New Hampshire for her miniatures and has also shown in Massachusetts with an awarded first place in pastels with her painting, "Forever Cattails" and third place in pastels with her painting, “Rind Trilogy”.  She has also been in juried shows at E.W. Poore Studios in Manchester, NH.

The artist lives in Nashua, New Hampshire with her husband, Joseph and two teenage son's Jason and Jonathan and her mom, Catherine Young.    She creates her paintings in her own studio and also at the E.W. Poore Art Studio in Manchester, NH.

Laureen presently works for the Nashua High School North as an academy secretary in the upper forum.  She graduated from Rivier College in 1998 with an AA degree in Early Childhood Education.  Laureen earned a certificate in Early Childhood Ed.in 1994 from Endicott College in Beverly, MA. In 1980, Laureen also graduated from Marian Court College, Swampscott, MA in the field of executive secretarial studies.  She grew up in Saugus, MA and graduated from Saugus High School in 1978.

Having many hobbies, art of course being one of them, along with gardening, cooking, and decorating; seems to help Laureen to continue her growth and learn to have new ideas for her art.  What she believes is so important now is experiencing art in everything she does.  Art give her a sense of peacefulness and belonging.  The pictures she creates bring forth enjoyment which she can share with others.  The challenge of constant juggle of time and changing schedules is part of her process to being successful.
