Art has always been a part of my life since childhood. During high school, I was enrolled in all the art classes offered, from drawing to pottery. After high school, I furthered my education and became a full time Registered Nurse; married and raised a family. My creativity channeled into needlework, knitting, sewing and cooking.
When my children graduated from high school, I rediscovered my love of drawing and I started to do pen and ink sketches. I enrolled in watercolor classes through Adult Education at the Salem High School taught by Marcia Harris a Salem, NH area artist. My passion for watercolor began with Marcia's class and I continued instruction in watercolor with Beverly Mitchell at the Essex Art Center and Silvana Siudut at Northern Essex Community College.
Silvana invited me to join the Arts Institute Group of the Merrimack valley, Inc. and through her encouragement I began entering my work in art exhibits. To further my knowledge of art I enrolled in drawing classes offered by Mass College of Art, NH Institute of Art and Northern Essex Community College. I currently belong to four art associations including the Greater Salem Artists Association, Greater Haverhill Art Association, Newburyport Art Association and the Arts Institute Group.
Art consumes my free time by attending classes, workshops, visits to museums and galleries. My watercolors are mainly composed from my own photographs while taking nature walks and trips around the New England area. My watercolors have received numerous awards in many of the area art shows. Nature continues to be the inspiration for my paintings. I am an avid reader of art books, art magazines and my favorite watercolor paintings were produced by Winslow Homer and Andrew Wyeth.
Presently I am taking watercolor classes from Beth Patterson, AWS, NWS, WW, In Chelmsford, MA and I am enrolled in a sculpture class at he Essex Art Center.
I feel blessed to have rediscovered my art and the joy it has brought into my life. Art has introduced me to many gentle spirited artists who see the world in a positive light.
